You might be surprised to see that there is not a remote control since the Gush is described as a remote control toy. That’s because Lovense has decided to go the app control route instead of stand alone remotes. This keeps the price down and actually adds more features as you will see later.

The Gush itself is a fairly simple looking toy that is about 3.4 inches long and 2 inches thick. The shape is somewhat tapered which means it is easily held in your hand, even if it is covered in lube (or other fluids :P). I was impressed by the feel of the silicone, especially compared to some of Lovense’s other toys that have felt chalky or overly grippy. The Gush just feels nice and has a bit of glide to it, even before applying lube.

Lovense has standardized on a two pin magnetic USB charger that I absolutely love. USB is truly everywhere these days, I’ve even charged it up while sitting at a coffee shop in an airport. It was sitting inside my bag of course. While the Gush doesn’t overtly scream sex toy like some other toys out there, it also isn’t completely discrete either. But I’m happy to say that it is quite enough to wear around others if you feel the urge. Even on the highest setting it rumbles away happily at only 45 decibels. But back to the charger, since it is magnetic and doesn’t require an opening in the silicone, Lovense was able to certify the toy to IPX7 waterproof. That means it is ready for almost anything you can throw at it, including use in the shower or bath and of course it can be washed clean under running water.

Hands On

I won’t lie, the Gush is one of those toys I initially wrote off after a poor experience. The first time I tried it I thought it was nothing but a tease and I didn’t understand the point. After trying some other similar toys like the Arcwave Ion and Fun Factory Manta, I thought it was time to give the Gush another shot.

You use the Gush by holding down the textured power button for a couple of seconds until the toy vibrates briefly to let you know it is activated. The soft silicone wings of the toys are designed to open just enough to grip nearly any size dick and in my experience this works very well. I’m thicker than most and I thought the Gush gripped nicely. If you are a little smaller or just want a tighter grip, Lovense helpfully included an optional silicone band that goes around the toy to grip a little tighter. And if you lose it, they even sell replacements on their webstore, that’s a nice touch. From there it’s a simple matter of pressing the button to cycle through the different vibration intensities and patterns, or fire up the Lovense Remote App on your phone to take complete control.

Hands Free

Lovense suggests trying the Gush for a “hands free” orgasm… This has never really worked for me before but I figured I would give it a try anyway. If you’re going to be hands free I would suggest either using the included band for a little tighter grip or wearing a cock ring under your glans or around the base would both work too.

I found that the highest intensity of the Gush was still a bit weak and unfocused, but it was still more than enough to desensitize things so be careful. What I found worked best was lower intensity settings or using the app to try out music sensitive mode or creating a custom teasing pattern. I was able to wear the Gush and stay hard for over an hour but I was not able to cum.

Stroker

If you find yourself needing a bit more stimulation to get the job done, the Gush does work surprisingly well as a stroker. Simply apply some water based lube to the inside of the toy. It also has some gentle massaging ridges that work well to magnify the sensations when you start to stroke with it. I enjoyed that the flexible wings allowed me to vary the tightness by altering my grip slightly.

Because the Gush is almost 3.5 inches long, it doesn’t leave a lot of extra room on most guys. I didn’t find that too limiting anyway because I found that short and quick strokes worked best for me. I think this is because of the ridged texture on the inside. You will want to make sure you have the thicker motorized portion of the toy on the bottom so that these ridges are able to stimulate your sensitive frenulum though.

App Control

When you connect the Gush with Bluetooth to your phone through the Lovense Remote App you open up a whole new world of possibilities. Most obviously it allows you to locally control the Gush with greater control and allows you to create your own custom patterns. It also enables sound and music reactive modes that can be quite fun, especially if you’re using the Gush hands free. It also allows you to connect with a partner, either by becoming friends in the app, or by sending a link to the web control app. Either option works great but the web control does lack several features of the app.

Where I think the Gush really has potential is when you sync it with other toys in the app. You could easily wear the Gush with the Diamo cock ring to keep things rock hard or wear the Edge, Ridge, or Hush to introduce some back door action. If you really felt creative you could even try the Gemini on your nipples or the Sex Machine for a truly interactive session.

Worth It?

If you or your partner already have Lovense toys then I would not hesitate to buy the Gush. The Lovense ecosystem really makes this toy much more worthwhile than it is on its own.
