Arcwave Voy

The Voy is a new male stroker from Arcwave that promises the best of both soft and hard sided toys with an innovate tightness adjustment system.

To be completely honest I have never really enjoyed your average hard sided male stroker. I have always felt that the hard plastic shell takes away half of the intimate sensations and limits the experience. So I was skeptical and intrigued when I discovered a new Arcwave product, the Voy. Arcwave is already one of my favorite male sex toy manufacturers and now they are promising a customized and on the fly adjustable fit with an easy twist of the wrist. So naturally I had to get hands on to see if it delivered…

TL;DR

4/5

Arcwave Voy
Personalized pleasure in a small package

Arcwave continues to impress with their high quality materials and innovative concepts in sex toys for men.

Pros

  • Tightness adjustment system
  • Premium feeling CleanTech Silicone
  • Extremely easy to clean
  • A very compact stroker

Cons

  • Not as intense as some toys

First Impressions

Arcwave, like most other adult companies, promises discrete shipping and I haven’t be disappointed in them yet. My package arrived faster than I expected in a simple FedEx shipping box. When I opened that up I was greeted by some of the most impressive packaging I’ve ever seen. Seriously, I would expect an expensive chunk of tech to come out of this box, not a wanking accessory.

Arcwave Voy packaging

The Voy is a nice and compact stroker which makes the weight from the premium silicone sleeve inside it quite surprising. The only real feature to note is the knurled ring around the top of the device. That ring adjusts the tightness of the internal sleeve and it has some very satisfying detents. I have no doubt that whatever mechanism is at play here will be able to maintain it’s grip through just about any play session.

Arcwave Voy in it's case
All buttoned up with both lids on.

Both ends of the Voy have a simple twist off lid. I’m always really annoyed by lids on this kinds of toys. They either seem like they will fall off if you look at them wrong or they are so tight that you can’t possibly get them on or off if your hands have been anywhere near lube. But these lids easily twist off, again with a satisfying detent to keep them in place.

The lids expose the double ended sleeve made from Arcwave’s CleanTech silicone. I’ve been impressed with this silicone on their other toys and the Voy is more of the same. There are no visible seams or molding marks anywhere on sleeve. It was well below freezing when mine arrived but it took just a few minutes in my hands before the silicone was up to body temperature.

Hands On

Now for the main event…

Each of end of the Voy’s sleeve has a slightly different diameter so take your pick based on whatever your dick desires. I wouldn’t get too wrapped up in it though because the real magic is inside the sleeve. The sleeve itself has a simple ridged texture that feels great when you find the right tightness. Simply apply your favorite water based lubricant, I would suggest Cake Toy Wonder.

To tight!

Speaking of that, the knurled ring around one end of the device controls the tightness in any of of eight different settings with nothing more than a simple twist. I’ve found this to be extremely effective. What works best for me is starting at the lowest level and staying there until I’m almost at the edge, then moving on to the next setting. It did take some experimentation to find the right motion and rhythm though. I wasn’t able to just go at it with full strokes like other hard sided strokers, I found that a shorter motion worked a lot better and really focused the sensations.

Arcwave Voy on a dildo for size
Big enough to do the job, without being bulky.

I never found it difficult to finish the job with the Voy but it got even better every time I tried it. If you decide to pick one up, make sure to try it a few times and mix it up a bit until you find what works best for you.

Closing Thoughts

Because the Voy is an open ended toy, you do need to be a bit careful to contain the mess. But Arcwave’s CleanTech silicone is your friend here. Even if you went way overboard with the lube, a quick rinse under running water is all it takes to clean up this ultra premium silicone. If you do want a more thorough clean though, the sleeve easily pulls out of the shell to completely clean both parts. Between the open ended sleeve and the ventilated lids, drying is just as easy. Most of the time I don’t even bother, I just rinse it and put it away and trust that it will be dry in no time.

I don’t expect you will have any problems, but if you do Arcwave has your back. They offer a 100 day risk free guarantee if the Voy just doesn’t do it for you. And if the Voy does somehow manage to break, I assume from your overflowing enthusiasm, Arcwave will cover you with a full 2 year warranty. Not bad.

Worth It?

This is a tough call for me. The Voy is a 100% manual toy with a premium price of $99 that puts it up against other toys with compelling interactive features.

A pretty direct comparison would be the Lovense Max with an identical $99 price tag and similar tightening sensations. While the Voy is completely manual, the Max is electronic and even remotely controllable. But honestly I found the ability of the Max to quickly tighten is more of a theoretical benefit than a real one. After spending some time with the Voy I have actually found myself using the Max more like it, slowly tightening it as the sensation builds instead of letting it alternate up and and down. And if you’re concerned about toy quality, I really don’t think Lovense holds a candle to Arcwave in that regard. Lovense does make a quality toy, but Arcwave steps it up in ways you don’t even notice until you see it.

I wouldn’t hesitate at all to spend a bit more on the Voy instead of some of the other hard sided strokers on the market. But if you’re in a long distance relationship the manual nature is a bit of a letdown compared to some of the interactive options out there. So the decision is really up to you but I can tell you that I’ve continued to reach for the Voy myself.
